Outreach Playbook

LinkedIn outreach that doesn't feel like spam

A 4-message sequence that earns replies from founders and marketing leads — without templates that scream automation.

LinkedIn is the highest-intent B2B surface left, but the inbox is a graveyard of copy-pasted 'I came across your profile' opens. The sequence below earns 18–25% reply rates because every message references something the prospect actually published or shared.

Pair it with lead context from Lead Pulse and Postly so each message points to something the prospect's company is actually doing this week.

The 4-message sequence

Message 1 — Connection note

No pitch. One sentence referencing a specific post, comment, or company milestone from the last 30 days. Saw your note about hiring a second SDR — nice problem to have. Skip the note entirely if you have nothing real to say.

Message 2 — Day 3, after they accept

A short observation, not a question. Share a relevant stat, a competitor angle, or a resource. The goal is to be useful before you're useful to yourself.

Message 3 — Day 7

Now ask. One sentence on why you reached out, one sentence on what you'd want from a 15-minute call. Specific, not aspirational.

Message 4 — Day 14

The graceful exit. 'Probably bad timing — I'll stop here. If anything changes, my calendar is in my profile.'

This single message books 30% of the meetings the sequence produces.

Common mistakes that kill reply rate

  • Voice notes from strangers — skip
  • 7-paragraph opens — skip
  • Templated 'I help X do Y' lines — skip
  • Automating connection requests at scale — risks the account and reads as spam

LinkedIn rewards specificity. So does every other outbound channel.
